Whether you’re building a solution for use in primary care, community services, or mental health, we help you navigate the full integration process – from Supplier Conformance Assessment (SCAL) and IM1 Pairing through to test, assurance, and live deployment.

Understanding SystmOne Integration and IM1 Pairing

SystmOne, developed by TPP, is one of the UK’s most widely used clinical systems. It supports care delivery across GP practices, hospitals, community, mental health, urgent care, and more. Through a shared patient record and a modular platform, SystmOne enables collaboration and continuity of care across organisational boundaries.

Integration with SystmOne is most commonly achieved through the NHS Digital IM1 Pairing model. IM1 Pairing enables third-party applications to read patient data, extract records in bulk, or write information back into SystmOne securely and in accordance with national interoperability frameworks.

As an accredited supplier under the Digital Care Services Framework (DCSF), SystmOne adheres to NHS England standards. This means that integrations must meet defined clinical, technical, and governance criteria – a process 6B is well-versed in navigating on your behalf.

Our SystmOne Integration Process

6B provides complete support through each phase of your integration with SystmOne. We act as an extension of your development team, liaising with NHS England, TPP, and your internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth journey from discovery to go-live.

1. Initiation and SCAL Completion: We begin by working with you to define your integration use case and prepare your application for the IM1 Pairing process. Our team supports the preparation of the Supplier Conformance Assessment List (SCAL), ensuring your product is positioned for approval. We help frame clinical use cases, data access requirements, and integration methods clearly to maximise functionality approval.

2. IM1 Test Access and Development: Once your SCAL is approved for test access, we help you gain access to the SystmOne mock environment. Using our pre-built SystmOne modules and close knowledge of the documentation, we begin integration development in line with NHS Digital’s IM1 Pairing and TPP’s technical standards.

3. Assurance and Licence Agreements: We support you through the assurance phase, including SCAL review and witness testing. We also assist with the execution of the Model Interface Licence (MIL) required to move into live integration. Our consultants coordinate with NHS England and TPP to manage timelines and evidence requirements.

4. Go Live Deployment: Following successful assurance, we help you deploy to production systems. Your integration becomes active in live SystmOne environments, where we support roll-out, onboarding, and post-live monitoring to ensure long-term success and compliance.

Benefits of SystmOne Integration

Integrating your solution with SystmOne enables secure, real-time access to clinical data used across multiple care settings. This supports the delivery of more joined-up, accurate, and efficient care.

IM1 Pairing integration reduces duplication, improves the quality of clinical decision-making, and embeds your solution into the workflows that NHS staff rely on. For patients, it leads to more consistent care and greater confidence in how their data is used and shared.

For vendors, integration with SystmOne boosts product credibility and increases market readiness by aligning with NHS interoperability frameworks and technical assurance processes.

SystmOne Integration FAQs

The initial step involves completing and submitting the Supplier Conformance Assessment List (SCAL) to NHS England’s IM1 team. This document outlines your product strategy, functionality, and intended clinical use cases. At 6B, we assist in framing the SCAL to ensure maximum functionality approval and facilitate the process, making it compliant with SystmOne’s integration requirements.

6B provides comprehensive support throughout the SystmOne IM1 Pairing Integration process. This includes consultation, SCAL preparation, and submission, as well as liaising with TPP and NHS England. We guide you through the initial development, testing phases, and interface mechanisms, ensuring compliance with all authority requirements and helping you gain access to necessary test environments.

6B can also support SystmOne integration with GP Connect. GP Connect, provided by NHS England, allows authorised health and care professionals to access HL7 FHIR SystmOne GP-held patient information and services in real-time.

6B can support you through the entire GP Connect SystmOne integration process. Our process typically starts with consultation and planning, where we work with your team, TPP, and NHS England to ensure a tailored and compliant integration plan. We then assist in preparing and submitting the Supplier Conformance Assessment List (SCAL) for NHS England approval. During development and testing, our team supports you in developing your HL7 FHIR integration solution using the GP Connect API, providing access to a test environment for thorough testing.

After SystmOne GP Connect integration development, we submit test evidence and conduct witness testing to demonstrate functionality and reliability, providing support throughout the process. Upon successful assurance, your SystmOne GP Connect integration goes live and we will assist with the final steps, including offering ongoing support to manage any issues and maintain optimal performance.

6B provides end-to-end support throughout the SystmOne integration process, from initial development to go-live.

Unsupported Test Phase: At this stage, we help you develop your integration using the SystmOne Pairing and Integration Pack (PIP). Any issues encountered are escalated to the IM1 team, who collaborate with 6B and SystmOne to resolve them.

Supported Test Phase: Once development is complete, we guide you through the full SCAL submission to enter the supported test phase. We assist in agreeing the assurance approach with SystmOne and ensure the IM1 team is kept informed throughout.

SystmOne Assurance: The agreed SCAL is submitted by SystmOne to NHS England. Following a Recommendation to Connect Notice (RTCN), SystmOne will propose a connection plan within five working days.

Witness Testing: During this phase, test evidence is either agreed upon or formally witnessed. 6B continues to support your integration efforts throughout.

Go-Live: Once assurance is approved, the MIL can be updated to include your SCAL, allowing your product to enter the live environment. 6B will help submit the Request for Change to IM1 and facilitate your participation in the IM1 supplier forum. We also support incident reporting and ongoing engagement with IM1.

Ongoing Support: From start to finish, 6B offers continuous development and consultation support, ensuring all documentation is complete and correctly submitted so your product can deliver value to patients as soon as possible.

After SystmOne integration development and testing, 6B helps with the SystmOne assurance phase, where the SCAL is finalised and submitted to NHS England. Upon receiving a Recommendation to Connect Notice (RTCN), 6B assists with the witness testing and finalising the Model Interface Licence (MIL) uplift. We ensure your integration meets all requirements for going live and provide support for any necessary adjustments.

6B offers continuous support post-launch, including assistance with the Request for Change to IM1 and participation in the IM1 supplier forum. We help manage any faults or incidents, provide ongoing consultation, and ensure your integration maintains optimal performance. Our team is committed to supporting your product’s long-term success and integration stability.
